Courses - Unique New Zealand Education Services Ltd. reserves the right to change course arrangements without prior notice.
Payment of Fees 2.1 Fees must be paid in full at least 2 weeks before your course starts or on receipt of our invoice within this period. 2.2 All fees are calculated in complete weeks and any part of a week is counted as a full week. No compensation is given for public holidays, when the school is closed.
Cancellation and Refunds 3.1 If you cancel your course before it starts, you will be refunded all payments except for the registration fee, or 10% of the course, whichever is lesser amount and the optional homestay placement fee, where applicable. 3.2 If your course is 3 months or longer, and you withdraw within seven days of the first day of your registered start date, you will be refunded all payments less 10% or NZ$500, whichever is the lesser. 3.3 For courses of up to and including four weeks and six days: if you withdraw within the first two days of your course, you will be entitled to 50% of all fees paid to Unique New Zealand less homestay paid to the host family. 3.4 For courses of five weeks or more but less than three months: if you withdraw within the first five days of the course, you will be entitled to 75% of all fees paid to Unique New Zealand less homestay paid to the host family. 3.5 We do not refund fees or give a fee extension if you take time off during the course or leave the course before it has expired. 3.6 We will refund the unused weekly homestay charges if your find other accommodation. You must give your host family and the school at least one weeks' notice of your intention to leave, or one weeks' homestay fee will be forfeited in lieu of notice. 3.7 If you go on holiday and wish to return to the same homestay you must still pay the homestay charge while you are away.
Attendance 4. You are expected to attend class regularly and punctually, and must comply with the condition of your student permits.
Liabilities 5.1 At Unique New Zealand, we take every care to ensure your well being. We cannot, however, be held responsible for any loss, damage or injury incurred within the school, homestay family or on a school excursion. 5.2 We require all students to have adequate medical and travel insurance and ask that you arrange insurance before you arrive in New Zealand. 5.3 Unique New Zealand shall not be liable if the published services cannot be provided for reasons beyond our control. However, fee refund policies will still apply as per 3.1 and 3.2 5.4 In case of accidental injury or sickness longer than 3 days, a doctor's certificate should be presented to your course counsellor. 5.5 No student under the age of 18 years who is in New Zealand under a student visa applicable to Unique New Zealand is permitted to drive or own a motor vihicle (car/ motorcycle etc.) and must be driven only by a full motor vehicle licence holder.
Homestay 6.1 Students must have their accommodation arranged before they arrive in New Zealand. 6.2 Unique New Zealand automatically gives each student an accommodation guarantee if either: they wish to stay with a Unique New Zealand host family or: they wish to flat with assistance from Unique New Zealand in making such arrangement. 6.3 If students wish to change their homestay, they must inform the Unique New Zealand Homestay Coordinator and give one weeks prior notice to the host or pay one weeks fees in lieu of notice.
Legal Requirements 7. Students are expected to comply with the laws of New Zealand and observe appropriate social standards. Failure to do so or failure to comply with Unique New Zealand regulations may lead to the expulsion of the student and the forfeiture of tuition fees along with visa revocation in more serious instances.
Special Procedures 8. High School students are required to forward recent school reports and a character reference before we can consider their acceptance.
Translations 9. The English language version of all Unique New Zealand information and conditions takes precedence over any translations to other languages, should there be any difference in meaning or interpretation. <back to top>
CODE OF PRACTICE Unique New Zealand Education Services Ltd has agreed to observe and be bound by the Code of Practice for the Pasteral Care of International Students published by the Ministry of Education. Copies of the Code are available on request from this situation or from the New Zealand Ministry of Education website at www.minedu.govt.nz/goto/international IMMIGRATION Full details of visa and permit requirements, advice on rights to employment in New Zealand while studying, and reporting requirements are available through the New Zealand Immigration Service, and can be viewed on their website at www.immigration.govt.nz ELIGIBILITY FOR HEALTH SERVICES Most international students are not entitled to publicly funded health services while in New Zealand. If you receive medical treatment during your visit, you may be liable for the full costs of that treatment. Full details on entitlements to publicly funded health services are available through the Ministry of Health, and can be viewed on their website at www.moh.govt.nz ACCIDENT INSURANCE The Accident Compensation Corporation provides accident insurance for all New Zealand citizens, residents, and temporary visitors to New Zealand, but you may still be liable for all other medical and related costs. Further information can be viewed on the ACC website at www.acc.co.nz MEDICAL AND TRAVEL INSURANCE International students must have appropriate and current medical and travel insurance while studying in New Zealand. FEE PROTECTION Unique New Zealand believes very strongly in protecting all monies received from students until such time as the students have completed their courses. Accordingly, Unique New Zealand has placed in an independent Trust Account, managed by an Independent Trustee, a sum of all tuition and accommodation paid in advance, by our current and future students, PLUS 10%.
