Course dates:

You may begin most of our courses on any Monday. If you wish to study for more than 12 weeks, we suggest that you start at the beginning of the term. Each course runs for a minimum of 2 weeks. We are closed on all public holidays.

This course will help you to improve your formal and informal communication skills.

Course content:

Morning classes work on grammar, vocabulary, listening, speaking, reading and writing and general skills for living and working with English speakers.

Afternoon classes work on listening and speaking, pronunciation, fluency and general communication skills.

English for Academic Purposes / IELTS Preparation (EAP)

(Pre-Intermediate - Advanced)

This course will develop your formal and academic English skills to prepare for the IELTS examination and study at a university or other tertiary institution in New Zealand or in another English speaking country.

Course Content:

Morning classes work on grammar, vocabulary, listening, speaking, reading and writing as well as academic skills for use in any scholastic setting.

Afternoon classes work on familiarisation with and specific preparation for the four IELTS tests.

Cambridge First Certificate in English Preparation (FCE)

(Adults and Teenagers - entry level: strong Intermediate)

This course is arranged according to demand from students. The Cambridge First Certificate (FCE) examination is well recognised by employers and educational institutions. This course will help you to prepare to take the FCE exam.

Course Content:

Morning classes work on General English including grammar, vocabulary, listening, speaking, reading and writing.

Afternoon classes are FCE exam preparation and include: listening, speaking, reading and writing together with academic skills and familiarisation with and specific preparation for the FCE tests.

Work Skills Development

Three - four week part-time course (afternoons only) for students who want to find jobs. This course will give you confidence to seek work in New Zealand or any other English speaking country and improve your communication skills and confidence.

Course Content: Interview skills, telephone conversation, meeting customers, finding a job, writing CVs and business letters, problem solving, team work and having meetings.

Combined Business & Work Skills Development

Morning classes focus on business communication, globalisation, marketing, economics and management.

Unique New Zealand English Adventures (English Plus Activities)

This course is for students aged 8-18 years old. You will have great fun on this course, improving your English skills in the mornings and enjoying sightseeing or activities in the afternoons.

Course content:

Morning classes work on General English including grammar, vocabulary, listening, speaking, reading and writing.

Afternoon activities include skiing, horse riding, ice skating, sailing and swimming in hot pools as well as visits to Sky Tower, the zoo, museums and other places of interest.

Weekly conversation and pronunciation classes for adult students

Pronunciation classes : 3.30 – 4.30 Tuesdays.  Work with other Unique New Zealand students to improve your pronunciation in a fun, interactive way. 

Conversation classes : 3.30 – 4.30 Thursdays.  Join Unique New Zealand students of other nationalities to practise your conversation skills.

 

Practice IELTS tests for English for Academic Purposes students

Mondays and Wednesdays after school.  Try the different tests under exam conditions and get detailed feedback from the IELTS teachers.
