Finished an English course. What next?

Other students have successfully continued on to tertiary courses in New Zealand and worldwide. And other students are now happily enjoying well paid careers in New Zealand, other English speaking countries or back in their homelands.

Parental Representation Programme

It is not always possible for overseas parents to accompany their children while they are attending schools in New Zealand. Our Parental Representation Programme provides comprehensive care for international students. We work as a 'bridge' between students, their parents, host families and schools.

As part of this programme, Unique New Zealand becomes a 'guardian' for the student, taking responsibility for the academic, social and physical welfare of the student. The 'guardian' is the official representative of the parent and supervises the student's school, home and social life.

We help students with school placement, travel, social activity and academic matters, and provide day to day personal care. Our local high school students receive up to four hours per week after-school academic coaching and homework assistance. We are available 24 hours, seven days per week to help our students feel secure and confident and to be a part of community

Every student has different needs. Unique New Zealand helps students to choose the best place to study - city schools, country schools, public schools, private schools or special schools for music, art, design or sport programmes.

Koji Ito

It was the very first time for me to go anywhere else other than within Japan, to talk, read and write in English everyday and to see such a beautiful country. Going to NZ and staying here seemed to me that I was jumping into a new world! Whatever I do in this country is something that I had never done before. Every moment is so exciting!

But of course, I couldn’t get used to NZ life at the beginning. There were so many things I couldn’t sort out by myself. I didn’t know how to live with my host family who has totally different culture, how to make friends with other international students and lots more! But Unique New Zealand staff has helped me a lot in dealing with all the problems I had.

After my 2 weeks of lessons at Unique I became a Takapuna Grammar School student.

School life is not that easy. It’s sometimes harsh and sometimes hard. But because I could get help from Unique staff whenever I wanted, I could have more fun than everyone does, I suppose.

I’m now about to finish my 2 years in NZ and I appreciate Unique's great help through these years. My 2 years in NZ indeed has changed me. But I will never forget that I got help from Unique and I hung out with Unique mates.

Miki Fujimoto

Hi I'm Miki. I'm a Unique New Zealand student and I come from Japan. I came to NZ  in 2004. Unique New Zealand is the best place for studying English and making friends. I love being here.

Now I'm studying year 12 at Rangitoto College, near Browns Bay. It is a good school. My teachers are kind to me. I have made a lot of Kiwi and international friends. I still come to Unique a lot to hang out with friends and to get extra help with my homework.

I will finish my high school in year 2007, then I will go to a university in Japan to study Economics because I want to help my father with his business. When I have to leave New Zealand, I will miss people at Unique a lot.

Chonradee Piyapaneekul

My name is Cherry and I come from Thailand. I studied at Unique for 4 months from March 2006. It has helped me a lot. Unique is the best language school for me. All the teachers are kind, lovely and they teach the students well.

After I finished my course at Unique, I got accepted to Carmel College. It is a very good Catholic girls school. At first, I was too nervous to talk to people and too shy to ask questions. But now everything is fine, I'm not afraid to ask my teachers what I don't understand.

My future plan is that I'd like to study more about Art. One day, I hope to have an artistic career - maybe an architect or an interior designer.
